This rather large bear has a key on his tummy but he no longer works. Did he play music? I could not find any type of mark on him. He is quite heavy for a stuffed toy. If you move his tail, his head moves. Did he have a mechanism for movement? Please help me identify him.

Your bear was made in Germany by Schuco. Does he have a little tail on his behind? They had a mechanism inside the tail that when you moved it up or down from side to side their head would move in a yes or no fashion. They originally made Yes/No or Tricky Bears in the 1920's and re-made them again during the 1950s.

I forgot to mention that the little loop on his chest was a wind up mechanism and your bear once did make music.
