I came across this little elaborately carved box at a local charity sale. Not my usual area of interest but found it appealing and curious. I'm thinking it might be bakelite. It measures just over 4" long and just over 3" deep. I included a photo of the underside w/lable because it suggests it is not of US origin. Any ideas?
