1930s Hotpoint Oven Timer

This is a lovely Art Deco piece of stupidity that was introduced as an option with early Hotpoint Electric Ranges circa 1930. This clock is heavy, made of cast iron with a clock manufactured by the Lux Clock company. The unit has two cords extending from the rear. One plugs into your houshold 110V outlet, and the other cord has a female plug where you plug your oven into. You could then set this futuristic timer to turn on your oven at a certain time, and then turn it off some time later, so when you got home......voila your dinner would be cooked and ready in your oven. The only flaw with this new invention, was that the timer clock is "wind up", so if you didn't think to fully wind up the clock, and it stopped ticking while your oven was on cooking, you'd likely come home to a firetruck instead of dinner.
