This is a very heavy lamp...I'm not sure if it is brass or what type of metal. I truly do not know the era it is either. It is a gorgeous lamp and I'm not sure if something of this sort should be restored or not. I have had it re-wired, so it works, but I'm debating scrapping it at the metal recycling facility by our home. Can someone please give me some advice and information on old lamps of this sort....Are they worth holding on to when they need this much work??

      Hi Eva
I have one of these, too. My dad bought it for his parents when he came home from WW2, late 40's. I have taken out all the old electrical, etc, painted it black and use it for an extreme candle holder, one big candle and three small ones, rather a gothic look....

      Hi There!!!
What a lovely idea to use this as a candle holder!!! I can't believe I didn't think to do that. Thank you so much for the information...I would not have even thought it was from that era.
A candle holder is ideal, considering I have had the darndest time trying to find fittings for it to put a lamp shade on...Thank you so much for that wonderful idea again!!!!
