I spent hours looking for a vase like this. I found tons that were almost like it but none matched 100%. I think it is a Bark vase from around the 1970's and is well made and rather heavy.art glass The polished pontil looks like the ones from Whitefriars but the colour doesn't match and neither does the shape.
Ingrid Glass made Bark vases, too, but the base does not match either. I checked several other makers as well but no luck.
I hope someone will recognize my vase and put me out of my misery - LOL

Not much help, but, yes, I have seen many cups in the same pattern and colour/shade which seem to be a product of the 1970s.
Are we sure it's a pontil and not a suction scar from an Owens-type machine?
Thanks so much for your comment, SpiritBear. I guess the bark finish was rather popular in the seventies, so therefore many companies made similar items. As for the pontil mark, it is a bit unusual. There is a depression of a larger round area. This area is semi smooth. Inside that is a smaller, highly polished circle. I thought that this second one was a polished pontil mark. I must admit, however, that I am not very knowledgeable about the glass making process.

I came across a similar vase, same shape and finishing - but the glass felt a bit thinner and it was light purple. It had a label: China. Maybe this one is also a mass produced item? Well, one of my daughters might enjoy it until the cat gets a hold of it.
