Barbarina Print by the German Artist Georg Schobel (1860-1941)
Its 24" X 16" in size and called "French Court Scene Dance Recital"
This is a Photo Chromolithograph Print.
Print, Frame, and Glass are all original and in Mint condition.
Glass is wavy with some bubbles and impurities in it.
I'm trying to put a date on this. I would guess 1920-1930.
    Any ideas?

Your dating sounds right. Could also be a scenery from the court of Friedrich der Grosse, aka 'Alte Fritz', (1712-1786), king of Prussia.

      Thanks for the comment Golgatha.
I agree that the central figure is King Frederic II. The uniform and medal is consistent with the time. Somebody called it a French Court Scene. That could be wrong. Its interesting to look at the expression on the faces of the people in the print. Did you notice the person holding a cup of coffee?

That may be spiked tea as happy as he looks lol if your talking about the guy to far right. Beautiful art pc and lots of detail.

From the expressions, I get the idea she's making a fool of herself! Even the dog is giving her a look.
It appears to be only gentlemen present, except for "twinkle-toes"....
perhaps she was drawn into the room by the music and the men are at a bit of a loss about how to react to her exhibition.
I love it that the one man in motion, maybe a servant, seems wasting no time, maybe to fetch someone to come escort her out.
      Great painting!!

Antiquecollector, I did notice the expression of the man holding the cup--he looks as if he is observing something very distasteful.
Her hat on the chair indicates it was tossed aside so probably this was an impulsive action.
Her hand/arm/head position and posture look like she is "shadow dancing" a waltz. Apparently no takers if she had wanted a partner from this group. ;-) There is so much to see in this painting!

Watchsearcher, Did you notice the clock on the mantel says 8:00?

Yes, I did notice the time but I don't know what the significance is. Early evening. Men congregating after a dinner to have beverages, confer with each other, listen to music, then this lady pops in.....
      What does 8:00 tell us?
I love the painting so will be glad to know your thoughts.
