I think this knife was from WWII. Otherwise, I don't know anything about it.

British Commando knife aka Sykes-Fairbairn commando knife. Possibly a copy but does look vintage.
I agree, but usually referred to as: Fairbairn-Sykes. THEY made them in many countries with the Allies. Originally issued to commando styled units. If real, you should find small markings and then it's an easy search. Keep us up to date.
It has markings on the blade guard. 42 with an arrow on one side and the other side says England. Is this worth something?
You have the later, or 3rd pattern. The "broad arrow" denotes Eng. gov't. property. I don't follow these closely, but think the Eng. are more sought out, for some reason. I've seen a wide spread on sold prices, from $60 - $600. Your sheath has some damage/alterations, which is very common for in the field used knives as individuals adapted them for the way they wanted to carry. My guess is that yours would bring $200 & up. I carry mine & my Browning when I'm stupid enough to go in places I shouldn't.
