I found this neat little "Kit-Cat" clock the other week. It is battery operated using (2) C batteries. It keeps excellent time and is neat how the tail wags and the eyes move back and forth. Since I acquired it, I found that several of them owned by acquaintances. And here I thought that it was rare and unusual, anyway, it is neat and makes a great little ticking timepiece to place on my bulletin board in my computer room.

WHAT FUN!!! Your clock, being battery operated, is a 'newer' model (late 80's+) as the original versions plugged into a wall outlet.

Every time I glance at mine I can't help but to smile -- hope yours has the same effect on you! :-) :-) :-)

We have one to, my wife wanted one and a friend bought a new one for us, I do keep my eye out for an old one as they date back to the 1930's.

This one's mine, probably one of the late versions with the 120VAC motor inside. Their change from 'plug in' to 'battery' movements apparently happened when their (admittedly always rather unusual in specification as far as electric clock motors go) AC motors became officially "unobtanium" as USA produced items, prompting the company to alter the design for the battery operated movement instead. Other key details that can help ID the age of any particular clock include how many paws Kit-Cat shows, and/or whether the name itself appears on its face and in what form.

I didn't realize just how popular this little clock was until I read the comments. My brother, who just turned 80 this month, said I should remember the optometrist's office that he and my sister went to. They had a Kit-Cat clock on the wall behind the receptionist's desk. After him telling me of this, It all came back to me. When I went with my Mother, Sister, and Brother for their eye glass appointments.
It was black like mine, but, I believe it was powered by a 120VAC motor.
I used to stare at it while my siblings were being examined by the optometrist.
