This almost pristine decorated machine seems to have been hand painted; was this the custom for this model and year?

    thanks,
    Judy

You have a " VERY NICE " Singer there . I love it . I do not believe the decoration is hand painted on this one . I am sure they are decals . I have one of these but no where near as nice as this . I have never seen a Pheasant machine this nice before . WOW !!!!

Thank you so much Nancy. I love it too! I will say that what prompted my question is that I can "feel" the painted surface. When I say "feel" it isn't quite as slick feeling as a decal so I am presuming it to be a painted design.
I am posting a picture of the side of the cabinet to show more detail. This beauty is deserving of a cabinet like this which is equally as lovely as the machine itself.
      Thanks again,

Judy : I checked with the people on the Vintage Singer web site . The decorations on your machine are decals , not hand painted . Unless someone took it upon themselves to paint over the origional decals . That is also one beautiful cabinet !

Thank you VERY MUCH Nancy, I appreciate your help. Would it be typical that I could "feel" the design of the decal as if it were painted on? That is where my confusion began....nevertheless it is so beautiful and I love it. I am feeling my 99K and it also has a "feel" to it. Perhaps that is where I went awry with my thinking it was painted on the Pheasant.
Anyway, I am leaving the Pheasant upright so that I can enjoy looking at it as well as the cabinet. I think I happened upon a real "find" here; anyway, thats my story and I'm sticking to it !! LOL

Judy : Yes you can feel the design of the decals with your hands because of its age . You will need to be very careful when you dust or clean it so as not to rub any of the color off . Also be very careful about putting any cleaning product on it . I would just wipe it down with a dry cloth . You could also wax it with a good auto wax to help protect it . Just use one without any thing abrasive in it . And yes you do have a real " find " . Take good care of it and it will be around for a very long time to come .

Judy, those old decals were designed to look as if they were hand painted and I'm sure the prints from which the decal were fashioned were indeed hand painted. 3 in 1 oil is an excellent cleaning agent that will not harm finish or decals. Put it on let it soak and wipe it off if it is heavily gunked or just wipe it down with it on a soft cloth which is all your machine would need. I just, today, purchased a model 15 with the "Pheasant" decals though they are no where near as nice as your 27. It came in the exact same cabinet in as good of shape as yours and I am ecstatic!
