Grandmothers cake plate ...It has more colors than you can shake a ...Peacock at...
I was totally captivated taking pictures today, as there are not any two pictures alike. It is actually dripping with intense colors. I remember as a little girl thinking how pretty the plate was, but I would have never thought, even in my wildest dreams, that I'd someday be unpacking it and that it would end up being mine. 50 years later it's just way to pretty to use. There are no marks on it or name. I know that it is French or English/British as all of my Grandmother's family were from back East. Family scattered - Quebec Canada, Boston Mass, Maine, Penn. etc.
Has anyone seen a cake plate like this one?
it looks like a Norwood, He produced glass in late 1800's- 1900's in West Virginia and Ohio. Go to http://www.collectorsweekly.com/glassware/norwoodglass or just collectorsweekly.com I hope this helps.
really looks like it could be Fostoria 'Celestial'
I see that the shape is identical to the Fostoria Plate. The pattern is called Celestial and the color is Blue. I know for a fact that my Grandmothers plate was way before the 1980's. So that has me now wondering if the original makers might have sold the pattern rights to the Fostoria Company.....
