During the French polishing, I have used a few drops of Walnut oil on the polishing pad, during the entire process. I like the results, hardened shellac, making it more resistant to damage. Nothing has been removed, the restoration is faithful to the age of the clock '30s to '40s. All the original shellac is still there, just incorporated into the strong new shellac. There is no high gloss, I prefer a satin finish and work the french polishing accordingly. The movement simply needed cleaning and oiling, no re-pivoting was required. The walnut grain is quite spectacular, in my opinion
Outstanding restoration!! It really turned out beautifully. Nice job!!
Thank you
