My wife found these pages from an old child's reader. They had been framed nicely. We think they were from a teacher's book, or a large book designed to be held up at the front of a classroom for a large group to read all at once. They each measure about 31.5 " (H) x 23.5" (W). Does anyone recognize them? We're wondering what book they are from and how old they are.

This reminds me of the Dick and Jane books that I grew up with. Sorry that I can't help you any further than that.

Sorry for the double post but this might be "Fun with Tom and Betty" made by Ginn books, 1961. Hope this helps.

You're half right.... these are from the book called My Little Red Storybook published by Ginn Basic Readers. I don't have these large teacher's posters, but I have the primer. The copyright date is 1948. The illustrator is Ruth Steed.
The readiness book in the series was called Fun with Tom and Betty, but this is the first Pre-Primer in the Ginn Basic Reading Series. (which followed Fun with Tom & Betty). There were 2 more books in the pre-primer series, My Little Green Storybook and My Little Blue Storybook. I collect vintage school books, and have hundreds of them. I will be featuring them on my collector's blog, see my profile for a link.

Stefdesign is correct. When I first started teaching in 1970, I had a set of all of the Ginn Pre-Primers in my classroom. I used them as supplemental readers for my students. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe the dog's name was Flip. Teachers still use these "big books" as a teaching tool in today's classrooms.

Of course, I had to go and check. Yes! The dog's name was Flip!
