Picked up a Hubley Set, hard to believe huh? This was cataloged as Farm Set #90 from '57-'58 and Large Farm Set #90 from '59-'61. The sets are identical except for the word "Large". Hubley made several Farm Sets, but this has a bigger tractor and implements so maybe they changed the name to emphasize this. The set box could be turned into a barn by punching out parts of it.
The contents are a Ford Tractor, trailer, cultivator and cultipacker.
The tractor is pretty big 12" long and every bit of 5 lbs. I love these old Hubleys, I can just hear a 4 yo screaming after dropping it on his foot on Christmas morning! I had a metal Hubley tractor in the 50's, don't remember much about it but it being red. This thing dwarfs it, from what info I have the largest Hubley tractors were was 12", unless they had a front end loader. It has a fuctional three point hitch, with a lever to lift the implements. It steers and has a sprung seat. The tractor was cataloged separately as Tractor #525 from '57-'61. Hubley did not identify the tractor, but it has got to be a Ford NAA Golden Jubilee Tractor made from '52-'54. The NAA was the successor to the Ford "N" series, my father had a 2N and you can see the resemblance. It's a pretty good copy of the NAA, in place of the Jubilee medalion it's got a "H". No scale was stated, but the NAA was around 118" long so it's about 1/10."
The trailer is over 15", hooked to the tractor they're around 25" long. It's missing the six stakes, but it and the tractor are in Hubley optimum condition(2% or less paint loss).
The cultivator and cultipacker are around 6" and have the parts that attatch to top of the three point. They've both got more paint loss, but still are in pretty good shape. I've never used a cultipacker.
You string all of them together and it's just under a yard long, pretty big toy. Like I said it's in great shape. I think I got a great deal, I've seen the individual tractors in worse shape go for more than I paid for this set.
Thank y'all fer lookin',
Bill
Nice set and that tractor is in excellent condition. That last implement is my favorite from this bunch.
Thank you Apache, the cultivator is my fave also. I should have got a better pic where the the tines could be seen closer. I love these big beefy toys from my childhood.
Very nice set!!
Thanks jcscott, I think I got a good deal.
Thanks to all for the loves.
As a kid I drove a tractor just like this on the farm. Long time ago.
That's cool that you actually drove one Coke, it was state of the art for its time with the hydraulics etc. It's a desirable collector's item. My father had an older 2N that I drove.
Gotta love tractors!
