I bought this at a secondhand store for $40 I’m planning on restoring it but I noticed the engraved tag inside anyway I wonder who it belonged to but I’ll never find that out actually maybe if someone could tell me what year it is and what brand style it is
Does anyone know what year this was made and what style of cavalier chest this is
Hello,
Your chest has a burned in id, which ages it to the 1950's. The site below has info. on restoring the chest.

Your cedar chest has lost all of its' veneer. Also looks like someone has tried to strip it. (Look at the ads in the article.)
Turn your Cedar chest over so you can see the bottom.
If it made by Lane, you are in luck because it will have have numbers on the bottom. Look online at a Lane website and it will explain that you read the serial number backwards to get the exact day, month and year it was made.
The web site will also give you info about the very dangerous original lock on Lane Cedar chests and gives you info about how to get a free replacement lock.
The original locks created an entrapment hazard which, over the years, resulted in many suffocation deaths, mostly children.
I would not bother to try replacing the veneer. I think you can get a beautiful chest without it.
The plate inside is sweet and touching so I hope you let that stay where it is....maybe add your own plate with your name and date.
The style you have with the curved top was called a "waterfall" style lid.
