      A coin from Italy perhaps Genoa ??? CVNRADI•REX on one side. Conrad II ???

      It might be a silver ‘grosso’. Italy did not exist at that time. On the first photo you can make out IANUA. That is Genova these days. There is in the centre also a visual pun a gate or in Latin a ‘ianua’.

      A date would be between 1139 and 1339. The Holy Roman Emperor Conrad III granted coinage rights to the city in 1139. Genoa no longer associated itself with The Holy Romam Empire in 1339.
