This is an antique steamer trunk. My mom bought it in Freeport, Maine in 1972 to use as my toy chest. It has been in our family for 39 years. It needs a little love, after all it's traveled many places I am sure. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it, what they were used for, etc.

One of the better style dome tops. Anywhere from 1880-1910. The extra leather trim and slat ornamentation indicate that it was better than basic quality. The wood is normally canvas covered which was sealed in an effort to make the trunk more waterproof. Should have held at least one interior tray. Always a nice find.
