I recently added a new piece to my large collection of "Murano Fratelli Toso Satin Rainbow Art Glass". The new addition is a nice two piece Fairy Lamp that would hold a small candle.
This 1st photo is with a small battery operated light inside of the Fairy Lamp and Pitcher to show how beautiful the colors can be if lighted properly. The round balls in the background are paperweights and the top one does not belong in this collection.
There are some very rare pieces in this collection.
Beautiful! Unique style of vertical multi colored glass stripes decor. A new one for me. Thanks for posting.
All the striped pieces are absolutely gorgeous, I esp love the bird in the case. Wonderful collection!
Beautiful colors!
Thank you all for the love clicks. I understand that these pieces were difficult to produce as the colored canes or rods are each applied to the outside of each piece and then heated and formed to them. The interior is cased and the exterior has the texture of individual raised colors with a satin finish. They feel as nice as they look.
I read where some of these pieces were produced in the 1920' & 30's in limited numbers but who really knows.
That was a great description Tex, about Italy and their glass production during 1920s-30s, apparently the fact that Mussolini was running the country, as a fascist totalitarian government, the glass industry became one of the casualty's for that time period.
Because I research art glass of that era mostly from Europe, I wondered where is the Italian glass production? That was the information I found. It was fortunate that post WWII there was such a rebirth and boom of Murano Italy Art Glass exports.
