Who made this engine? I cannot find anything that matches it exactly. It has roller pickup for the center rail.

This was an eBay find. I cannot identify the manufacturer. There are many similar looking engines but this one is different. It has no window openings in the doors on the body ends and the diecast frame is completely different than any I've seen so far. There are no markings on it anywhere telling who made it. It has roller power pickups for the center rail. If the one wheel and axle that came with it are the correct ones I do not know. The axle fits well into the motor chassis and the wheel has the look of an early Marx engine where the gear extends completely to the outer edge of the wheel flange. Any and all help identifying this engine will be gratefully appreciated.

According to a new contact I made, who sells prewar parts this engine was made by American Flyer.
