A super example of Georgian cannetille work dating from the early 1800s. It is astounding when examined with a glass to see the exquisite cannetille work and the intricately twisted tiny little pyramids of 15ct gold wire and tiny granulated beads that cover every little bit of space inbetween the Georgian Table cut garnets that are arranged in as simple cross design. I think the shape is an abstract heart and even the reverse of the brooch is exquisitely worked as is the usual way with jewelry from the early 1800s. Like a fine wine it grows on you and has certainly only become more wonderful with its 2 centuries age an acquired taste but I love it.
