Hello everyone ! Well it's been a while since my last post and a lot has happened in the past year. Sadly I lost my little Scottie Mitzi two days before Christmas. She had a good life at 14 1/2 years old but I miss her everyday. Still have Juliet my fat kitty though and that helps a lot.
My sister bought a beautiful old farm here in Ohio back in October and I've been given the task of renovating the house. She lives in New Jersey so she only visits once a month or so.
The property itself is 10 acres with three out buildings. It was a lawn mower repair shop so beside the house there is the 5 car garage and a small barn complex with a separate "T" shaped shop building. There's also a beautiful pond on the property stocked with fish,
The house was horrible. It had been rented for 5 years and left empty for two years. It reeked of pet urine and had to be completely gutted of the wall to wall carpet and the drapes upstairs and down.
Fast forward to the present and you can see what I've done so far. The living room before and after. I put in the beautiful Welsh slate fireplace and painted all the floors dark green. Had plenty of treasures in my inventory for decorating of course. I still pick up occasional pieces though. I have a lot of knick-knacks but no large furniture, so we buy whatever catches our eye as we need it.
The beautiful Kimball Victorian gentlemen's chair I found last week at out local Habitat for Humanity "Restore" for only forty bucks ! Surprised at what they sell for online. So it was a great find. It had springs in the seat and one had turned over. So I removed them all and filled the seat with memory foam and put a ply wood bottom in instead of webbing...very comfy ! It looks great in the living room. I found out my sister has the ladies chair ! What are the odds... same color just a different fabric. The living room, dining room and the one downstairs bedroom are finished. Still lots of work to do upstairs but the house has livable spaces now and my sister can stay there when she visits instead of expensive hotels. Can't wait for the warm weather so sick of Winter. -Mike-

Hi Phil...Thanks so much for the compliment. It's great to be back. Yes it's a wonderful place needs lots of TLC. Work continues upstairs and plenty of outside work in the other buildings once the weather warms. :)

Hi Keramikos...Thanks . Yes its the front door but they enclosed the porch. The original house was built in 1840 but it had major renovations and additions including a second story in the 1920's. The "before" picture was taken from the dining room. My "after" picture was taken from the front door looking directly into the living room. :)

So sorry to hear about Mitzi. I lost my sweet 14 year old lab, Chloe about 8 months ago. I miss her every day.

Thanks so much "virginiaisforlovers" it always hard to lose our companions. Having several dogs and cats over the years I believe their spirit finds their way back to us in one form or another. My present female orange tabby cat I found as a stray is the same personality as the black male cat I used to have before her. Sometimes I even call her by the other cat's name and she'll look at me like...oh you know me ?? Strange but true. :)

Thank you smiata. We're trying to encompass all eras since the house is 1840 on. So a wide range of styles for sure. Mostly thrift store finds and pieces from the antique store we have our booth at. :)
