This is an antique Cheese Box I found at an auction. I am amazed that the original label is still there and that it's in great condition. I'm thinking another cool photo prop. It has "Armour's Star Quality CoverBloom American Cheese" and then at the bottom "Armour Creameries-General Offices-Chicago Distributors" on the label. I thought it was a cool find and it still has the original lid and is really sturdy.
KBOW: back in the middle 1950s a company I worked for use to make there own cheese,it had to be turned every so often.I am guessing that the chaulk marks on your newly acquired cheese box indicated the last time it was turned.Your cheese box looks in great shape.Back in the days most items were shipped in light wooden boxes such as grapes, oranges, cherries, apples, cabbage, carrotts, beans, tomatoes and etc.I still have one of the bean baskets in my shed.Green onions came in a small ice packed barrell.
Thanks for the info! I knew the chalk was for some reason but wasn't quite sure what. This box is heavy duty compared to others I've seen. Also most of them have busted boards or warping as where this one doesn't.
