You should have it examined. Although I seldom recommend replacement of original movements with battery powered quartz movements, since it was originally an electric clock, that might be a good, inexpensive and *safe* way to go. We have several plug in antique/vintage clocks in our collection and although they run fine, I never leave them plugged in. That's just me though.
