I received the chair with the removable seat when I was a little girl. I remember it being painted white (my great aunts painted everything white back then). My mother began the stripping process but never completely finished it. She must have made the vinyl pink cover so I could use the chair in my room. Years ago my mother gave me the other somewhat matching one. The story for that one (with bottom and back cushion) is that my great grandfather bought it for my great grandmother for her wedding present from him. Both chairs have been used-especially dinners-my children would sit on them when company was over. The double cushion chair does have a broken spindle and as you can see the seat coverings are not in great shape. Used with love.
I have tried searching the internet for the style of chair. I once found a 'violin chair' on e-bay that was very similar and contacted the person but they never replied. I thought I had a lead but it lead me nowhere. Does anyone know the style of chair and are they valuable? Even though they don't match exactly are they a pair? What is the time period of these? Thanks for any help.

don't know why the second picture is turned it was right side up when loaded....
My grandmother used to have a very ornate dining set and only one chair was different than the others and that was because it was the host chair. It was always to be at the head of the table. The rest were similar but not as ornate. Often times the "Masters/Host" seat would have arms and cushions as where the others wouldn't. I am guessing these were from a set of 6-8 at one time and sometimes there was even a second host seat for the other end of the table (lady and gentlemens) Although the lady's seat usually wouldn't have arms. These are antique spindle highback chairs. They are old but I am unsure how old or what their value would be.
Good thought, but not sure as the chairs sit lower than a standard dining chair. They are also more petite. Rereading the above and thinking some more possibly bedroom sitting chairs, or vanity chairs? Any ideas anyone? Thanks.....
