I bought this Kewpie Doll at an Auction yesterday. Its really old, stands 11 and ahlaf inches tall, made out of a composite material, arms are movable. It came with this dress thats really old also, but dont think it was original to the piece. I bought it because I could tell it was old, but I dont have a clue of its value. Any info would be great. Thanks
I have a book on the kewpies I will check it for you as I believe this particular doll was in there. I used to have some of these! I had a similar dress on mine as well but I don't know if it was original or not. I will message back when I check into it. Beautiful doll Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!
After looking on other dolls on here, Im thinking its made out of composite. Ive been to around 3 kewpie sites, and I still cant find this one anywhere. Hope thats a good thing.
Okay I found my kewpie book! How tall is your kewpie? Here are the values of this particular doll as follows with size. 2.5 inch=$125, 4.5 inch=$185, 6"=$225, 7inch=$250, 8"=$400, 10"=$625 BUT with any article of clothing 3 inch=$250, 5inch=$300, 7inch=$350, 9inch=$650 and up. This particular Kewpie was made in 1913 and these prices are for dolls that have no chips, hairlines, or breaks. I wouldn't suggest putting her on ebay if you are wanting to sell her. I haven't had luck with any of my dolls and the one I sold which was valued at $800 and up sold for $250 and I don't even like to think about it. If you have any hesitation about getting rid of it don't go with ebay whatever you do! I hope this info helps.
This was the prices for bisque dolls! Sorry! I will go now and look for the celluloid prices. I thought this was one of the bisque dolls until I just went back up and read again.
Okay here are the prices for the celluloid cupies of this kind with jointed shoulders. 3inch=$70, 5"=$110, 9inch=$175, 12inch=$250, 16inch=$600 and up, 22inch=$900 and up. Hopefully this helps.
This is 11 and a half inches tall, made out of a composit material. Kinda like if you were to mix plaster and wood. No krazing, not one crack, paint is perfect, not a scratch. Its almost like it was kept in a time capsule, lol. You would think it was brand ne, but you can tell by the material that its real old. My grandmother had a alice in wonderland marionette that was made out of the same thing and that was about 90-100 yrs old. Thanks for any info you or anybody can find. I can post any pic of it anyone want to see.
You won't get book prices out of dolls anymore, you don't get book prices out of anything anymore. Books that even try to put value on items is only a guess these days, eBay sets the prices, and other auction places on line. Now with the economy the way it is the price of dolls dropped big time.
You doll is made of composition and made between 1920-1930. Also remember "Book Prices" always shows "mint" items, this doll I'm showing you here has it's original box.

Vesta, thank you sooo much! My Mystery has been solved. I have no box, BUT my figure is in MINT condition. I read that Kewpies are holding their value. Especially the old composite ones, because many didnt last through rough play.
It's in Amazing shape.
