Here's a couple of my metal BIC lighter cases -- I know I have a few more of 'em hanging around here too, these two were handy right now. :-)
The one on the left was an 'impulse buy' no more than a few months ago, brand new from some truckstop checkout counter someplace, because it ironically enough expressed my current mood of the exact moment *absolutely perfectly*...? <lol> It is actually made of cast aluminum (?) with "(c) Novelty" on its bottom, and came with a little mini-carabiner hook in its loop, which I removed immediately because it would just get in my way. [I carry my lighter in my pocket, not on my keychain]
The one on the right is stamped "NICKEL SILVER ESCO" on its bottom and is shiny silver in color, with a pretty 'maple leaf' applique on one side made of turquoise bits set in epoxy. (or at least that's what I *think* it is...??) I got this one brand new back in the early 1980's someplace and have had it ever since. Note the subtle differences between the current (blue) and vintage (now also quite empty, pink) BIC lighters themselves, mostly the lack of the flame adjustment thumbwheel on the modern lighter, and thus the notch provided for it on the older case.
THANKS MUCH to Re-In-Vintage, Brunswick, fortapache, & mikelv85 for dropping by and tapping your <love it> buttons! :-) :-) :-) :-)
I remember going to the Flea market in the 80's, there were vendors there with tables full of lighter cases, whatever your heart desired, they had it. I had one with turquoise inlay. Those were the days.
Yup Deano, that's no doubt such an event/place where I first got that one, from just such a vendor. :-) Glad you enjoy it along with the others that've tapped their <love it> buttons! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
