Any idea as to age style or purpose???? It seems old enough to be possibly from WWII era but im not sure. It is obviously heavily used and the only markings on it are ka-bar i have tried finding it online but cannot find the leather wrapped over woodgrain style grip
Looks to be actually pre-WWII. It is a genuine Ka-Bar so all good.
The mark on this knife is in the wrong place and it is also not listed in the KA-BAR database which is used to date KA-BAR knives. You may want to contact them with your photo's to see if it is a reproduction. See the paragraph below for how to contact them for help.
If the blade of your knife is marked with a four-digit code, you may be able to find it on the list here. If you can't find a product code, we may be able to help you identify your knife using photos. Please shoot both sides of the blade, note any unique markings, measurements, etc, and send it to info@ka-bar.com. Please allow a couple weeks for a response... sometimes these things are really tough to pinpoint.
I found it, its the Ka-Bar Commando sold at the base PX's during WWII
I would like to see the link for the page you found it. I will be watching for your post.
Sure thing this came from a guy named Tanker on another site.
