    Hello all,
I have this beautiful oversized teacup with the SAJI Fancy China, Made in Japan back stamp and am not sure what to call it.
The teacup's bowl measures 5 1/4" in diameter and 6 1/2" to the handle's edge. It stands 3 1/4" tall.
The saucer is 6 1/2" across and 1" tall.
Is this a teacup for a giant? or a gorgeous soup bowl? or maybe good for a great big ice cream sundae!
    Any thoughts?

Have found lots and lots of Saji Fancy China on line, but none with the dimensions of yours. If it were a soup bowl it would have handles on both sides, and no saucer. No ice cream sundaes have been served in it either. Seems it's just a very large tea cup and saucer. It's possible it's a special anniversary piece, but you have a real unsolved mystery.

Thanks for the thoughts. I’ll keep looking and share if I find anything!

In the UK, an extra big Cup and Saucer would be known as a Breakfast Cup. Or maybe a Cabinet Cup for display only.

AdeleC, thanks for the info. I keep looking at it thinking, "Now, how should I describe that beautiful cup." You've given me a couple of more ideas!
