This uranium glass bowl was bought at Hungerford arcade for £4.50. It fluoresces around the moulded parts under UV light. From the website www.cs-sklo.cz/ which has the Skrdlovice pattern books, I now know it is No.5351 by Jan Broz and is from 1953 (a good year) . Diameter approx. 30cm. weight nearly 1.5kg.

It certainly does look like a Jan Broz design for Skrdlovice... the lobe placement is very much like pattern 5351 from 1953, however, the description in the pattern books calls the bowl "3-sided" -- yours looks rather round. (By the way, 'patera' means platter and is not part of Broz's name).

Perhaps more photos would be helpful, including a view from the side and one of the base at an angle?

      It's a lovely bowl.

Thanks for your comment Anik. As you can see from the other photos it is actually more of a platter than a bowl and is sort of six sided. I couldn't find a lot of information about Jan Broz online but did find one photo of a similar plate.

Thank you for the extra photos... I'd say the platter is indeed mid-century Skrdlovice, but I am unsure of the designer and pattern number.

      A super find though!
