Does anyone know the manufacturer or possibly even the year these salt and pepper shakers were produced? I find them almost creepy as one chef/baker is holding a (bloody?) cat and the one holding the rooster is crying?!

Don't worry. Not a bloody cat, it's a rescued chicken with all its' parts in tact. And the other guy caught the cat that was in the chicken coop, and has it by the tail.

Is there anything stamped on the bottom, or perhaps a label?

The only thing stamped on the bottom is “hand painted”.

      Mid century Japan maybe?
