My husband found this beauty in a dumpster. The only thing we can see on it is Corbin Cabinet Lock Co. New Britain Conn. It looks very old but there isn’t a date on it. Wondering if anyone can tell me anything about or point me in a direction of someone who might know more about it. Thank you!
Hi Kigraft, well the lock was made by Corbin, the trunk made by someone else, this type of trunk was a very common and inexpensive trunk at the time made by many trunk makers, without a makers label impossible to say by who, the embossed tin pattern is also the most common one used. The slat clamps on top of the trunk are stamped Mar 16 80," patented by C.A. Taylor in 1880 but these parts were used for decades, your trunk could have been made anytime between mid 1880's to early 1900's hope this helps some, greendog.
