This is starting to be the Spring season that never was in Northern Ontario, the trees are budding, the birds are here, the sun is warm, but the cold air persists and you have to look at your decorative items to see some pretty green foliage with gorgeous flowers.
These images are not new, but represent what I have in my green living room on the walls.
I was an art student for many years, 4 years in high school, won prizes, and several College course with legitimate credits. I love to paint in the inpasto style, meaning the heavy textural applications which give a 3D effect on the canvas.
The internet sales of professional art works were very welcome here. Especially in that style.
4th image is of my mother and my youngest brother in the living room of a new house we had recently moved in during our high school years. A split level entry with windows covered with lace sheers, and beautiful striped lining on black velvet drapes. This was my mother's taste, quite dramatic and striking. Black was always part of the decor. 1966.
The carved wood head was an inspired sculpture of herself by herself, in 1946, when she went to the Quebec City College of Fine Arts. She loved working with wood, but her program of several years covered all the different mediums at the time.
Before I read the details, I had thought that the lady in the photo looked remarkably like the art-work carving.....
Your mother looks very poised and elegant!
She was certainly talented!
Thank you Watchsearcher, she would have been very pleased to hear you say so, she had the perfect shape and height for modeling, but wrong place wrong time, for some of us.
Beautiful still life paintings and you have a lovely family
Thank you for the fine comments, watchsearcher and Jenni.
