I love old trunks and couldn't pass this one up though I thought it was plastic and wood. Nope. I understand now that this is a European trunk. It still has the paper inside but instead of a makers mark or manufacturer it is a repairman's mark. I can't find any history on the repair shop, but it gives the trunk a history in Glasgow.

Anyone have any further information? Trunkman it looks just like the one you posted but for the two extra bands on yours. Should I restore it? I'm leaning that way.

The nickname for these in England is ‘bentwood trunks’. They are common as large numbers of immigrants used these lightweight utilitarian trunks to pack their belongings. Other than replacing the lock there is not much to restore on these other than refinishing the slats. Just fun funky trunks you can be creative as you like with.

Ps. I suspect the repair label is also the maker’s label... seems he had a multipurpose label..

Thank you Trunkman. I want it to look less like a paint table and get those marks off the front. I've had it in its current condition for about 20 years with either a blanket over the lock or turned around to face the wall. I think it is time for a little buffing up. Now I'll research bentwood trunks and try to get the correct lock to replace it. I really thank you for your input.
