This stands 8¼" (21 cm) tall. The bowl diameter is nearly 7" (17.5 cm). The decor is made up of blood-red spatters with light purple veining in a clear ground. The bowl is supported by three buttressed black glass feet. The entire piece, bowl and feet, has been given an acid bath and has a velvety matte surface. Near the bottom of the bowl there is a gold enamel stamped "Czechoslovakia" provenance mark - a mark that is being called the "smile" mark though because it is on a curved surface seems to bend the other way.
I have seen this decor on another shape so I'm thinking that whoever made this had a design line to go with it.
This has always been an interesting form to me. I used to go to an antique mall in Seattle that had one of these in red, white and blue on blue legs. That one had no mark on it.
Amazing luminous colors!
