I just got this cameo. The back is marked Czechoslovakia. It has a C clasp so is older. I don’t know what the cameo is made of. Any ideas? It looks a bit dirty, I took a toothbrush and tried to clean a bit. There are a couple rhinestones missing. Hopefully can find replacements at some point. Any new info appreciated.

could it be opaque molded glass? In a metal setting. Love these old pieces, 1920+.

      Molded resin rather than glass.

Here are some cameos, shell and resin, plastic exct., that have jewelry on as yours once did:

Not a cameo as cameo would be shell. More likely carved ivory

Czechoslovakia was a major supplier of glass cameos for use as jewelry elements.

A cameo that itself is wearing jewelry or other personal adornment is said to be 'en habille' (an accent on that last 'e'.)

Any gem that is carved or molded in relief is technically a cameo. The material, color & number of colors do not matter. If the subject is engraved/molded below the surface, it is an intaglio.
