I collect WWII items, and I found this at a garage sale yesterday. The seller said her uncle worked for Curtiss years ago and gave it to her. It’s large and weighs almost 11lbs. It appears to be made of aluminum.
I have reading about the SB2C online, but I can’t find any similar desk models of the plane. Was this a prototype or was it given to workers who participated in the project?
How do I go about cleaning it? Can the missing propeller blade be repaired? I would love information about it! Thanks!

They made a lot of desk model airplanes for collectors and to give as gifts. There is someone who puts a lot of plastic replacement props on these planes but I find them quite offensive.

I'm qualified to assist you with this model. This was probably a corporate model on display at the Curtiss plant and depicts the unpainted prototype. I restored a similar but smaller corporate model of the Curtiss P-40 (also shown here on Show and Tell). The prop needs to be viewed close-up to confirm if aluminum. A new blade can be effectively reproduced and attached. If you Google SANDMAN OVERHAUL and link to the second page, you will see my contact information. Here is a link to the photo of the P-40 I restored-
