Elizabeth Taylor "Elephant Walk " Brooch / Avon / Circa 1990

One thing about having a booth in an antique store is you never know what fellow vendors are going to bring in. When working there's generally a lot of free time between customers so you tend to walk around and browse a lot. I found this piece just lying on the counter and not locked away like most of our jewelry. It was inexpensive and I thought it was well made. I turned it over and saw the mark.....Hmmm... Elizabeth Taylor. Cool ! Now I'm a confessed hater of Avon but a quick check online made me do a complete 180. Apparently this was something special and this vendor did not bother to research it. I struggled with my conscience should I tell him or just buy it and stay quite ?? I stayed quite obviously. This could have easily disappeared into someones pocket. Couldn't figure out why he would be so careless and not put it in his case. It's not in perfect condition there is some plating loss and "vert-de-gris" on the tiny rings that hold the beads to the string but everything else is intact and sparkles like crazy. Originally part of a set with ear rings, the complete Elizabeth Taylor "Elephant Walk" box set is rare and one of the most sought after pieces in the Avon collections .
