Garage sale steal of the day! Might have been an oil lamp. Seller said may be over fifty years old but says made in China? Hmm... Still a beautiful piece.

Made in the 1970's some time probably early 1970's. Most of theselike 99% are totally unmarked. The only hope you have to identify is if someone had one with some info still affixed to it, Very nice.
I'd think even newer Phil, based on what can be seen of its cord/wiring. A pic of the light bulb socket inside would help to confirm, but I'd more guess a 'Pier 1' sorta thing with much more recent heritage. A 'Made in China' marking of some sort would seem to seal the deal...it is *still* a fun lamp anyways though, esp if a garage sale prize?!! :-) :-) :-)
What is it made of? the glass could use a clean.
Hello Gillian and anythingObscure, Yes it needs a bit of cleaning, I brought it right home and had to share with everyone. I asked the young man what the history was behind the lamp and he said he thinks it was an oil lamp at first and then they made it into a light fixture. He didn't really know too much but that it had to be more than 50 years old. Still I think it’s a very unique piece. But not sure what style or how I would describe it to people? Any suggestions??
The stand is a wrought iron and it looks as if they had done the wiring themselves. It’s very heavy.
