Another item from my aunt's vintage collectibles. She collected ashtrays, although she never smoked. This is one of the most interesting. After researching ashtrays, I learned how little I knew.

Hey Keramikos! Thanks. I am not surprised. I try to research each piece and I am always surprised at what I find. To me they were just ashtrays, but now I know some are art deco. I now know what match holders are. Some are very large crystal glass. There's an entire ashtray world out there! Who knew? I will check out the links you sent.
Hello - I am very grateful to Kera for the links aswell. Quite a journey. I don't think you have match holders on your ashtray. It would be too easy to ignite them with a burning cigarette. Instead, they're most likely cigarette holders. If they're much wider, cigar holders. It's a feminine looking ashtray though.
Hi Gillian, thanks for the information. When I searched for the ashtray I typed in "porcelain ashtray, flowers, cigarette holders." The similar items in the results said "match holders." I do not think they are match holders either. I agree with you and will change the name of the item. I appreciate your comments.
Candles? Too much fire power for your piece?

Hi Gillian - not at all, I think it will look pretty with a few short, thin candles. Thanks for the idea!
