The size is approximately 10" long by about 5" wide. Large and heavy taupe color with darker color in grooves of fur. What era made this cat face? I am curious about the origin, maker and mostly the year. One photo of writing on bottom, so hard to make out.
I used to go to a shop which had so many of these figurals including large pieces, life size busts etc. In the later 80's there were still a lot of whirtware and greenware sores out there. . They held regular painting classes and fired the work in a kiln. I prefered the whiteware and bought a lot from the store.Usually you'd sign the ork before the kiln.as it was expensive to fire then so had to fut as much in the kiln as possible.
Mystery solved.
Thanks for the response but I don't understand it. What is Whirtware and greenware, and I guess you mean stores not "sores'. But still it's a mystery. What is an ork?
Whiteware ceramic is not painted not fired yet in kiln . It is a blank mold you buy to paint . When done you carve your initials and date usually in before it was fired . These were sold in Ceramic shops where you could take classes also and paint it there , Phil was saying you sing the (WORK) it was a typo and came out ork is all .
Oops lol I just made a typo (You SIGN the WORK ) it should read :-)
HAHAHA That's too funny! Love you both!
Hi Share xo between Phil and myself we need new glasses :-)
