Hello, This came from a box formerly owned by a pattern maker , who I believe worked in a foundry. It measures 3/4" tall, 1" wide, and 8-1/4" long. Made of aluminum, with a steel rod at one end, the point is sharp, and the rod is ground flat to be parallel with the base. Thanks, Lou

Dunno for sure, but it looks like it could be used to scribe a line on something, by drawing it along some sort of opposing flattish surface??

Hello, I also thought it was some sort of scribe, but I have yet to figure out its use. Maybe the point goes off the edge of a surface plate?? thanks, Lou

That's mostly what I was thinking lptools (the 'surface plate' part anyway) but am only guessing, because that sorta *looks* like what it should do...?? ;-) :-)
