The blue REST ROOM sign with white border and lettering measures 20" x 4", and is made of painted sheet aluminum. It was another item (along with several other cool old industrial signs, one or three of which I think I've already shown here?) rescued by a friend of mine during the razing of the old Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery in Peoria IL in the mid 1980's. Its backside is unfinished aluminum, no maker's marks or etc. on it anywhere.
[ignore the ugly smoke detector BTW, nothing interesting at all about that, it's just one more of the 'random immovable things' on that little wall that I'm trying to work around with this little assortment of stuff... ;-) ]
I actually got the little ILLINOIS LAND OF LINCOLN 'faux personalized license plate' when I was a kid (1970's-ish) to fasten under the back of my bicycle seat. Such things were commonly found then (if not still now?) on spinny-racks at gas stations/etc, usually as (I suppose) 'souvenirs' from whatever state's auto tags they resembled. [read: whatever state the particular gas station was located in] It measures 2-1/4" x 4" and is made of embossed light gauge aluminum painted on the front, also blank on its back with no other markings.
