Very old silk/velvet cloth with unusual figures

This was a neat old item i found rolled up and tucked away at a recent estate sale. This piece unique figures on it that kind of look like coptic ones i have seen online but i do not know what this was or what it was used for. There is some type of silver metal border at the top for decoration that adds to the beauty of this cool piece.
