This statue is carved of wood, stands 40"tall by 14" wide. I thought she was only a wood statue, until the kid colored on it, and i used a magic eraser to take it off, and with it came a layer of dirt. We were surprised that underneath, was paint, hand punched tin?, adorned with cowlry shells. I removed dirt from the front of her head, chest, and baby, then figured I may want to leave it dirty. The toe is broken off the right foot, wich, I discovered is how these have been found. She is absolutely beautiful. I believe she is from the Yaruba tribe, and goddess of twins. Ironically, I bought this garage saling with my girlfriend, whom was pregnant with our twin girls, it was a year later we discovered who she is. I would love if anyone has any info or knowledge about her.
help, can anyone lead me to real info on this doll, I think it is actually from the Ashanti tribe.
