Hmmmm… Lucien Picard women's wrist watch. I found this in my mothers paperwork and it's so very pretty! I knew I had never seen it before and at a close look, noticed there was no "made in" or "Swiss" or anything written at the bottom of the face. Peculiar but ok... On the back there is a number 006187. I haven't had time to research it yet but I noticed too that the band has "Pat. Pend", of course being 'Patent pending'.

So here is my question, Lucien Piccard began in 1923, and the watch is of that era. But I did just take a peek by googling the name and every thing comes up with the last name as "Piccard". The face of this particular watch says "Picard". Only one "C".

Now I'm really curious about it. Is this one of the first watches without a patent yet? Does the patent pending only pertain to the band?

I guess someone could have made a copy of it for money many years later. All the stones look authentic to me as does the rest of the watch, haven't tested the gold yet but it looks right too. I am quite confused by this now and my mom would have no idea where it's from at this point. Someone also overwound it so it needs fixing too but I do love it.

I hope someone here can tell me what's up with this piece. Was it a common thing pre patent to do minimal work and even spell names differently? I hope this is authentic but if not I can handle it ;) I even have more questions about it but I'll see what I can find and would absolutely love it if our watch experts here know something about this.

Thanks all for looking, loving and offering to share your knowledge! Always appreciated!

Enjoy! I know I will no matter what the outcome is, this for sure is a keeper. I just don't know any watch repair people anymore so I'll wear it as a bracelet and when asked the time, I will be sure to sneak a peek at my phone first! haha

    xoxo

Gorgeous ladies watch, love the pretty colored rhinestones bordering the face. Your mother had great taste, Lucien Picard was a choice brand of fine watches yrs ago (and I do seem to remember the spelling as Picard with one C, I would try wikipedia or an antique watch site under P, good luck!)

Newfld, thanks for the lovely comment. I do believe the stones are real. In fact, the ones that look like rubies, may possibly be pink sapphires, they have a bluish hue to them and according to the GIA site, they fluoresce like sapphires. Glad to hear about the one C. I was a bit baffled by that. Thanks for the love.

Hi Mani! Well, I really did it today! Hurt my bad leg today and I wasn't thinking and submerged my hand with the watch on right into a tub of water! Hope I pulled it out fast enough. Time will tell, no pun intended! Thank you much!

Apologies for the delay, my freeway has been narrowed down to a one way street here it seems!

Thank you Mary for the love and I do wish I report that she would remember but so far, it's highly unlikely.

It's funny you said pink sapphires because I thought that's exactly what they are too and I took a peek to see if I mentioned it and I didn't see that I did! haha on third look, I see I did mention that! I certainly felt like I did... They have a distinct blue hue to them that I absolutely love! xoxo
