My Mom’s 75 year old neighbor recently lost his wife. He has been going through a lot of things and found some of HIS mother’s old brooches stashed away in a wooden box. Since he knows I love vintage costume jewelry, he asked if I would like to have them...of course! He said he remembers his Mother never leaving the house without wearing a brooch. He thought they were from the 40’s and 50’s as best as he could remember.
Many had a stone or two missing, or the pin clasp was broken. They are still beautiful pieces from Coro and other unknown makers. He didn’t think his 10 yr old granddaughter would be interested in any of it. However, I loved anything and everything my great-grandparents or grandparents had...working or not. So, I’m going to make a brooch shadowbox for him that he can give her when she gets older.
Here is a sample of some of the pieces that will go in it. The only one marked is the flower bud with the red glass stone. It is marked AMCO 14KGF. I am very partial to the other two, especially the little daisies with the tiny pearl centers. It looks very Deco to me.
Any input from anybody on era outside of what I was told?
Thank you for looking everybody!
