Can anyone tell me more about this, and maybe how much it is worth? I am not quite sure what to do with it. It has been used as yard art, patio art, etc.

I'm confused..........if the water is HOT why do you need a heater? i would think that this would have been called a Water Heater or a Cold Water Heater. Anyway I can't see where it would be of much value unless someone was restoring a house of that vintage and wanted one for that, you might try your local historical society.

I think this piece is wildYou really need a large space to display it so thats an issue.I would clean up the red paint with some type of oil to get a slight shine to it ,get rid of the rust with some ooo steelwool and maybe polish any brass or copper pieces on it to give it a little sparkle.Great piece, lots of detail, lots of potential.A little big but still very cool.Might be a very early furnace .Coal probably.Does the chamber have signs of repeated fires in it?.

It's an early water heater, I buy these for around $200.00 and upcycle them into some useful piece.
