A bronze cuff by Menno Meijer from an unknown year, but 1963 or later.
Menno Meijer is a Dutch modernist jeweler (and sculptor) who to this day has his atelier in Gouda. In 1963, he won gold in München (Germany) for his work; a fact he then incorporated in the stickers he marked his products with. The sticker on my cuff is still present, but very worn. The first circle reads "München 1963", the text next to that is "Met Goud Bekroond - Staatsprijs München" ("Awarded Gold - State Award München") and the second circle contains "Handwerk MM Gouda" ("Handwork MM Gouda"). Next to the second circle is a handwritten serial number, which I think reads "7913".
I know of two other designs by Meijer that utilize the same button closure. One is pretty much a bigger version of this one; twice as long and featuring a row of four buttons. The other is made of stainless steel and features one large button with an anchor on top. I hope to obtain those too one day, because I really like the look of this closure.
As for that stuff above the sticker, I have no clue what it is. Because it's only on the inside, I'm in no hurry to figure out how to clean it.
