    I have collected a lot of pottery and ceramic pieces and was wondering if anyone has a pieces like this. I picked it up at an estate sale and love it, but would love to know if anyone knows its origins.. thanks!

      Looks to me, from the shape and designs, like it was made to look like a Mayan storage pot. After the Mayans migrated to southern Mexico they made a good deal of this type item for the tourist trade. That doesn't mean being for tourist trade effects it's value. Some such items only a few were made others were produced in large quantities. An expert could tell from the type clay, finish etc. the approximate era and maker. If you have a college near by they might have a department willing to have a look.

      Thank you fhrjr2, I will look into this more.. the clay pot seems to be of a light weight clay.

      seems to be burnished.
