A sizeable biomorphic ring with tendrils in black and blue. I'm not sure what the coloring substance is, but it looks like paint. Bit of wear on three tendrils, which is nothing that harms the overall look. The ring is marked 925 for silver and something else that's unfortunately unreadable every which way I tried making it readable.
I bought this ring at church charity market that gets hosted once a year (twice a year if you count the presale, but that one doesn't always have a jewelry booth). The people who run the jewelry booth set aside the silver and other valuable materials they come across to go for a higher price range. Those prices are fair, but out of my immediate interest. It's more fun to scan the wares for any good stuff the sellers missed and there's always some. At a time the tray with silver rings was the focus of most buyers and sellers (there actually was a ring I was interested in, but c'est la vie), I looked over in the cheap jewelry box and pulled this big black & blue biomorphic beauty out. (It was bigger than any of the known silver rings on sale too.) The sellers are the kind that have ideas of what "good jewelry" looks like that do not include modernist shapes, so it's not surprising they overlooked this ring. I don't recall what I paid, but it won't have been more than 2 euro.
Excellent find!
Thanks for the comments and the love! Quite a few of my "how did the seller miss this?" stories involve modernist pieces, so it's nice to see the appreciation for one around here.
@Broochman: I've given it a try, but no dice. It keeps looking like "| |:". But I appreciate the advice.
@Valentino97: Unfortunately, rings and bracelets are not things I can easily wear. I work at a lab so that's a lot of labcoat & gloves on and off, while weekends are generally for activities I could too easily damage or lose a ring at. I've been thinking of constructing a chain & bead structure I could rest a ring on and then wear it as a necklace, yet so far I've not gotten around to it. I definitely aim to wear this particular ring asap though!
