An antique 'mememto Mori' pocket watch key.
Possibly made of Ivory and brass.
The term 'Mori' derives from the Latin name for death.
Mori mememtos are a reminder ' that you will die'.
Quite morbid really.
Still, another one for my collection.
Thank you for looking. Neil

No doubt this was the key the undertaker used for your watch before he planted you. Fun item and thanks for sharing it. I couldn't resist being a wise ass.

I think this is bone and not ivory. I don't see schreger lines, but I do see, especially in the third pic, what I assume to be blackened haversian canals. Brass & bone also would be more likely a combination than brass & ivory.
You have an amazing (and creative!) collection, and of it I like this piece the most. It's beautifully carved and overall delightfully morbid.
Hi Parrotbeak. Thank you so much for your appreciation and yes I believe you are correct in saying that it is bone. Neil
